Alan Wake has been out for probably a month, and it's given people enough time to thoroughly trawl through it and pull up some good stuff. And with it, we get what the original Max Payne developers feel about the demise of the Max Payne franchise when it was taken from their creative control. Alan Wake Easter Eggs at 5:05Alan's a writer, so at some point we pick up a few pages of his written works. However, it's not just what Alan's writing- it's Max's voice, his thought and speech patterns, and for all intents and purposes, kind of a "late goodbye" by the developers to their erstwhile project. Both of the little snippets are tellingly labeled "Sudden Stop", and both of them describe the gradual descent of Max and what seems to be his final moments of life. And honestly, I think I would prefer it if in the developer's canon, Max ended up dead 13 years after the first game, rather than in Brazil slumming it up as a merc. It's more fitting, in my view. Of course, that's just interpreting literally what the directors (most importantly Sam Lake) wanted to say figuratively: that to them, anyway, Max Payne died in the snow.Man, I loved that second snippet, so goddamn heartbreaking. They ended it with what started the whole thing. (Also bloody slushie MMMM :D) Ideas? Discussion?
:(So sad, even though it was expected.
Also, Fred Berman (MP2 Vinnie's voice actor) is also the VA of one of Alan Wake's characters. VERY IMPORTANT
Our fandom is so smaalllll. :< I wish I knew how to pimp things properly and attract new peoples. I was just really surprised and pleased that the developers obviously still had such an emotional and creative attachment to the games and the character. Enough to haul back the original VA for Max and stuff a few snippets of his POV in there. It's actually given me some inspiration for that Dick Justice fic I had going and abandoned a while back. I was thinking about making Alan Wake one of the writers of the show Dick Justice :DHm! Which one is it? Was it that crazy guy who's spouting all kind of 4th wall breaking stuff?
Mhmm. :IMaybe Rockstar won't fuck up after all and we get a decent third game and an actual fandom again. It actually kinda inspired me too (and reminded me of how freaking much I still love these games), and I haven't been into MP as much as I used for quite some time now. Slash-wise, anyway, but that's not much of a loss. Some fat, thuggish guy, I think. Not that I've actually heard him or anything, seeing how I pretty much lost all interest when Remedy announced the game will be only for the Shitbox360.
